Anniversary Ideas

Monday was me and my Sexy Nerd's anniversary. We've been married 3 whole years! And, since our wedding was on the 4 year anniversary of our first date, we've been together a whopping 7 years! Crazy. I'd been brainstorming anniversary ideas and came up with some good ones. After Sexy Nerd went to bed on Sunday night, I got started decorating. I rescued this banner from the trash pile when cleaning my boss's house last week. Have I mentioned that I work in a dental office? That's a blog post for another day.   What a fun surprise when you come downstairs!    Sexy Nerd gets up ridiculously early for work. I made him a batch of breakfast burritos to heat up in the morning and pre-filled the coffee maker for him. (Click image to enlarge)   I framed a group of photos for him, including this collage. It features a note from the back of a photo he mailed to me back when we first started dating, when he was living in Michigan. Ta da! Next on my agenda was a litt

Consider My Day Made

I was browsing through blogs this morning when I came across an intriguing advertisment. I immediately saved a screen shot to share with you. Okay, maybe not quite immediately (you can see my Google search for yourself - there's no sense trying to hide it!) See that colorful box in the upper right? Isn't it beautiful? I'd never participated in a campaign like the one with Jimmy Dean and BlogHer before. Although I've seen ads like this in the past, I was skeptical that my little post would ever be featured in an advertisement. Yup, I'm a hotshot.

Link Up! Not "Baaad" Sundays and Best in Show

Welcome to another snazzy Not "Baaad" Sundays linky party! Before we start linking up, there are some fun business matters to attend to (doesn't this just sound so professional?) First up, the winner of last week's Best in Show award clobbered the competition! With almost 60% of the votes in her favor, the award goes to the blogger who posted the recipe for these delicious-looking (though perhaps not sounding) Belly Button Cookies: Congratulations, Amy from Flexible Dreams ! Way to go on all those votes! Here is your award: Next up, it's time for another round of Best in Show nominees. We're starting 2011 with a brand new linky, but before we do, I've compiled a list of 10 blog posts chosen out of all the blog hops posted here in 2010. Give yourself a pat on the back if your post was selected - this is 10 posts out of several hundred linked blogs! Here are the nominees: Moore Minutes went camping and put out a S'mores Dessert Buffet! Silly P

Pizza Soup

Last night was my turn to make dinner. Sexy Nerd wanted pizza, but I still wasn't feeling quite up to that after having my wisdom teeth out on New Years Eve. So, we had Pizza Soup, which is fast & easy. Sexy Nerd thought this was a pretty crummy alternative to pizza, especially since he doesn't really like soup. However, he did say that "for soup, it's not bad". I'm having my stitches removed today, so maybe there's some real pizza on the horizon! Hmm, something went horribly wrong with my photo here. Tasty looking soup though. In true Pizza Soup form though, it's much more tasty with mozzarella cheese! See that shiny liquid clinging to the side of the bowl? That's flavor. Poor, forever-starved Sexy Nerd. Assured that he would waste away to nothing on a meal of Pizza Soup, (didn't he see all the "flavor" above?!?) I also made him a quick, easy sweet potato pie, all for himself. No, none of the foods we eat typically go

The White Elephant in the Room

You know those products that seem to be heavily marketed around Christmas, then suddenly disappear? The ones with the gimmicky marketing that leave you scratching your head, wondering who would possibly buy something so ridiculous? Check out what Sexy Nerd and I went home with after my family's White Elephant game at Christmas: No more bending to clean your feet! Hooray.

Christmas, 2010: Fun at the Albuquerque Sunport

Sexy Nerd and I said goodbye to chilly Albuquerque and flew off to Tucson to see my family on Christmas Day. There wasn't much of a line going through security, but I was selected to be one of the *lucky* passengers inspected by the airport's new body scanner. Sexy Nerd says it's because I cut in front of him in the security line. Supposedly, the scanner can't see beneath sequins. Doesn't everyone wear sequins on Christmas? After being scanned, I was also required to be "patted down" by the hand of a large, stern woman. Phooey.  Christmas photo! Note the plethora of black sequins all over my chest.  What's the matter, Sexy Nerd?  Oh, that's right. It's time for a Neal family Christmas. There, there!  So many Neals! So very, very many Neals! Honestly, I'm just being dramatic. They're all fun, friendly people and it was wonderful to spend Christmas with them. (And who knows if any of them will read this post!) Sexy Nerd's

Best in Show Nominees. The YUM Edition!

Let me start out by saying that I'm completely STARVING! Yogurt and oatmeal just aren't enough to eat. Sexy Nerd was nice enough to run out to buy me some ice cream today, but it can't compete with solid food. What better way to pass the time when you're recovering from wisdom teeth surgery than by browsing through food blogs? You might notice a theme with this week's nominees. Belly Button Cookies 7-Layer Bars Monkey Bubble Bread Flavored Butter Gifts Creamy Cheeseburger Soup Vanilla Spritz Cookies Starbucks Style Maple Nut Scones Gingerbread Snowflakes Christmas Dessert Striped Sandwich Cookies Mmmmm, it all looks so delicious! Vote for your favorite recipe at the top of this blog. The winner will be announced on or around Friday, January 7th. If your recipe was chosen, please feel free to take one of the following buttons: Good luck, nominees!
