Amerisleep AS3 Reviews

My Amerisleep AS3 Unboxing Video (Surprise, my voice is ridiculous!) If I can (just barely) do it, you can totally tackle a bed-in-a-box by yourself. Updated 10/15/22 Amerisleep's AS5 was recently featured as the 'Best Soft Mattress in a Box' by Good Housekeeping , with the panel of reviewers noting: Pressure relief for side sleepers Taller than other boxed mattresses Good customer service    Amerisleep Mattress Reviews  We've been happy Amerisleep customers since purchasing our first AS3 mattress more than 9 years ago. Now we also have an AS2 and an AS4 (the AS3 is still our favorite). Born with chronic insomnia  (even as a baby - my family insists I was a nightmare), the struggle to improve my sleep is my life. My husband, the overly-analytical mechanical engineer, was initially skeptical of a mail-order mattress, but he was quickly won over. 2012: Wine glass test, sans wine. I was fairly confident our brand-new mattress would pass with f

Our lives have changed so much since then.  We've traveled the world and have slept on every kind of bed - but the AS3 is still our favorite mattress. We've built our dream home and have ordered 3 additional Amerisleep beds - but the AS3 is still our favorite mattress. Here's why: Amerisleep AS3 So many Bed-in-a-Box choices! Why Choose Amerisleep? When we placed our order in early 2012, the Bed in a Box market didn't exist yet. In fact, when we told people we had purchased a mail order mattress, they thought we were nuts! What is Idiopathic Insomnia?

What is Idiopathic Insomnia? Idiopathic insomnia - the reason you can never sleep? Hello there! I am Kitty Deschanel, blogger of sexy (nerd) adventures .  Here on my site,  I often write about all things sleep. It's the perfect topic for me because I never sleep well. No, not even as a baby. My family was understandably baffled! Oh, I've tried it all. Meditation, forgoing caffeine entirely, exercise, cognitive behavioral therapy, herbal tea, prescription sleep aids, relaxing bedtime music, evening sauna sessions, and even funny-looking yellow goggles to block out slumber-disrupting blue light. I've consulted with the best sleep doctors in New Mexico. I've undergone an extensive overnight sleep study in a sleep lab, wired to the point of ridiculousness. Take a look for yourself. Sleep Study to Diagnose Idiopathic Insomnia   Behold, Kitty Deschanel, the human Christmas tree. The sleep study doesn't hurt, but the glue they use to hold the billion se

A Comedy of Errors (Happy Fifteen Year Anniversary, Sexy Nerd!)

15 years ago, my life took a happy turn when I went on a Match.com  date to the China King buffet in Albuquerque (still our favorite) with the best guy ever. It would have been 15 years ago yesterday, but he couldn't make it because he was taking his Grandpa to the Natural History museum. (See? Best guy ever.) At his insistence, he even paid - my only date to ever do that! We were just kids when we met. I wasn't even old enough to drink. Sexy Nerd received a word of warning from his Grandma before our first date, insisting he be cautious and make sure I wasn't just after his money. It gave both of us starving college students a good laugh. What money? We're not actually able to see each other at all today, as Sexy Nerd left on a business trip yesterday and won't be home until tomorrow. I contacted the Marriott Kansas City Overland Park about this and they are going to arrange for some nice anniversary surprises. I'm not sure what exactly...it will be a surp

Bananas Are On My Diet (Galaxy Diner, Flagstaff)

As part of my New Year's resolutions for 2019 (yes, I still do those, old soul that I am), I've been treadmilling daily and trying to make healthier food choices. The treadmill part is easy, as long as I don't overdo it and kill my feet again , because I can use my laptop the entire time - online shopping and fitness combined! The food part is more of a challenge. I looove sugar. Oh, and salt. Now I want to whip up a chocolate cake and binge on pickles while it bakes. So not the point of this blog post! Another resolution is that I'm going to invest more time into this site. Stay tuned for big improvements! You know how all (successful) bloggers swear by the rule of having a clear topic for their site? Yeah...I have not even come close to doing that. This blog is just like my mind - all over the place. Kitty Deschanel, 2019 = more beauty, more sleep, and less nonsense. Recipes? Get the heck out of here, recipes. In the meantime, here is a post from 5 years ago

10 Best Sleep Products to Ease Your Bedtime Anxiety (Inc. 2 Freebies)

We've all experienced a sleepless night from time to time. As someone who has struggled with insomnia my entire life (even as a baby, according to my understandably perplexed family), I have tried everything to improve my sleep. Melatonin pills? Check. Yoga and meditation? Check. Drinking a big glass of tart cherry juice before bed? Check...and all it did was wake me up to use the bathroom. When you're unable to sleep well night after night, just the thought of bedtime - the tossing! the turning! - can be enough to propel your cycle of insomnia. It doesn't help that every health article seems to scream about the dangers of not getting enough sleep. I'll spare you the lecture - it's not like we're intentionally getting inadequate sleep. You know practicing good sleep hygiene is beneficial, so you try to keep a consistent sleep schedule and avoid caffeine in the evening. What else can you do? Here are 10 of the best things to help ease your bedtime anxiety,

Get Over the Flu: 5 Ways to Make Your Flu Recovery Faster and Easier

I have the flu, so this is going to be a short post. Never mind that I often skip blogging altogether when I am healthy. (Update: This turned out to be a pretty decent post. Yay for sick me! See? These 5 tips really work!) I should be at work today and not at home witnessing how stupid our dogs are. Pica just yawned and the sound caused Biscuit to bark, which made Pica bark. Now they are both barking hysterically at the glass front door. (Yes, glass front door. It is super obvious that there is no one there.) (Update: UPS just dropped off 2 packages and neither dog had any idea.) Things to Remember to Make Your Flu Recovery Faster and Easier 1. Water tastes gross. You know you're supposed to stay hydrated when you have the flu. Staying hydrated is never a problem for me. I love water...except that when you have the flu, water tastes gross. Like, you can taste the sickness. The universe has a cruel sense of humor sometimes. If you're caring for someone with the flu (hint

I Hope We Don't Win the Mega Millions Jackpot

It's a risky game I'm playing. With all the talk of the Mega Millions jackpot exceeding a billion dollars (and maybe even hitting two billion - crazy!), even my frugal-minded self couldn't resist the siren call of the lottery. I mean, how else am I ever going to have a shot at becoming a billionaire? (My husband was quick to point out that with hard work, anyone can become a billionaire and that it's still a possibility for us. Okay, Pollyanna. He sees the world through very rosy glasses indeed.) Like every American the last few days, I was instantly consumed with how I'll spend my theoretical winnings. I would take the annuity rather than a lump sum, which would be more than a million dollars per month for the next 29 years, after taxes. My future self, the billionaire, was going to use the money to hire someone to wallpaper our master bedroom . Heck, she was going to hire someone to wallpaper the entire house! She might even have replaced some of the tile on

What is my bra size?

What is my bra size?! How to properly measure your bra size - a public service announcement. After my lovable boss decided to measure my bra size in front of everyone, this post seemed like a great idea. (Seriously, have you ever read such a mortifying work story? I love her, but geez!) The Proper Way to Measure Your Bra Size You know the joke about not being able to go back out at night because you've already taken off your bra? This is me 100%. And I bet it's you too, which is a safe wager because the majority of women purchase the wrong size bra simply because they aren’t aware of their correct measurements. If you knew what to measure and how, you could say goodbye to all those ill-fitting bra woes, such as gaps, backaches, and sore spots from a too-tight bra cutting into your skin. Plus, you'd save time and effort when you shop sexy bras for women . To help you out, I've partnered with Cosabella to come up with a guide to the proper way to measure b
