Amerisleep AS3 Reviews

My Amerisleep AS3 Unboxing Video (Surprise, my voice is ridiculous!) If I can (just barely) do it, you can totally tackle a bed-in-a-box by yourself. Updated 10/15/22 Amerisleep's AS5 was recently featured as the 'Best Soft Mattress in a Box' by Good Housekeeping , with the panel of reviewers noting: Pressure relief for side sleepers Taller than other boxed mattresses Good customer service    Amerisleep Mattress Reviews  We've been happy Amerisleep customers since purchasing our first AS3 mattress more than 9 years ago. Now we also have an AS2 and an AS4 (the AS3 is still our favorite). Born with chronic insomnia  (even as a baby - my family insists I was a nightmare), the struggle to improve my sleep is my life. My husband, the overly-analytical mechanical engineer, was initially skeptical of a mail-order mattress, but he was quickly won over. 2012: Wine glass test, sans wine. I was fairly confident our brand-new mattress would pass with f

Actually, I Love the Beach. Who Knew?

Call me crazy, but I've never been a big fan of going to the beach. I don't surf, I hate being sandy, and it's always blazingly hot or infuriatingly windy. There are jellyfish to sting you and crabs that want nothing more than to pinch your toes. I've also had a few too many near-death experiences involving water, including a scary childhood incident involving a riptide trying to pull me out to sea. Oh, and birds will poop on you! But in California last week , driving all the way from LAX to Livermore and back, I dare say the highlight of our trip was stopping at different beaches along the way. Also, I greatly underestimated how big California is. That drive took forever! A perfectly reasonable expression when you don't trust your husband to say if a wave is coming too close.  Taken in Santa Cruz, steps from a neighborhood of lovely homes. I need to make more money and get myself a beach house in California. A fixer upper will be fine.

Photos of Washington DC Cherry Blossoms in Springtime

For fun ideas for your next trip, visit my post 6 Reasons to Love Washington DC . Sexy Nerd was in Washington DC for business last week and I jumped at the chance to join him, eager to escape the darn allergens  (my annual nemesis) at home. Unlike our last visit to DC , which was so brutally frigid I actually considered death-by-icicle rather than continuing to trudge along, the weather was sunny and perfect this time. On the day we flew home to Albuquerque, the daytime temperature plummeted down to the low 40s (30s with the wind chill - brrr!) so our timing couldn't have been better. We were supposedly too early in the year to catch the famous DC cherry blossoms in bloom, with the 2017 National Cherry Blossom Festival still several weeks away, but I can't help thinking this year's festivities may be mistimed. By the time visitors arrive to see the cherry blossoms, they're all going to be gone! You'd never know it from thi

The Best Travel Apps For Your London Vacation

On our recent trip to London , Sexy Nerd's work obligations meant venturing out on my own if I wanted to explore the city. And I'd flown so far (and spent sooo much money) - of course I wanted to explore! I'd never traveled on my own though and I have zero sense of direction. Luckily, there are plenty of free apps available. I downloaded them all (seriously, my Nexus 7 tablet had to be reset to its factory settings. I'd overloaded it with so many travel apps it could barely turn on. Whoops!) Truth be told, the majority of the free apps I'd downloaded were useless during my visit to London. But there were also a few amazing ones that really enhanced my trip. They're all available for Android through the Google Play Store, but I think each has an Apple version as well. Best of all, all of these tourist apps work OFFLINE! Be sure to bookmark this list for your next trip (and if you don't have a trip to London planned, start planning one. It's the best

Freezing in Washington, DC

I tagged along with Sexy Nerd this week on a business trip to Washington, DC. The weather forecast warned against it, but I decided to take my chances because I'd never been. Record cold wasn't going to cancel my trip to Washington, DC...although perhaps it should have. Next week, Sexy Nerd is jetting off to Napa Valley. I may have chosen the wrong business trip.  Here's a photo of me freezing my butt off, on the warmest day of the entire trip !!! I've lived in the Bay Area and the desert. I've never experienced such cold weather in all my life. It was BRUTAL! Saturday warmed up enough to snow and snow some more (and then, it snowed a little more) until the snow was finally replaced with something called "freezing rain". I had a second pair of pants on under these jeans. How can people live like this? There were a few people who were excited to see me during my trip...until they found out I'd need showing around during the bli

Iceland Photos

We're back from our WOW Air vacation and we had a great time. Going to Iceland and Copenhagen in a single trip was a perfect combination because the two are such opposites - rugged nature and the big city. (To us Albuquerque folks, Copenhagen seems huge!) Quiet, friendly locals and hundreds of miles of solitude make Iceland an introvert's paradise. My husband and I have traveled the world, looking out over the Blue Mountains in Australia and hiking the VallĂ©e de Mai in Seychelles, but Iceland tops our list of favorite travel destinations. With iceberg-covered beaches, cartoonish horses that jaunt happily toward you, and steam-filled valleys bathed in mist, it's unlike anywhere else in the world. Here are a few (you know, just 40 or so) Iceland photos to inspire your own dream vacation. Iceland November  21-25 I was only planning to share photos here, but have a quick story that's too funny not to share. Watch out for the horse
