Amerisleep AS3 Reviews

  My Amerisleep AS3 Unboxing Video (Surprise, my voice is ridiculous!) If I can (just barely) do it, you can totally tackle a bed-in-a-box by yourself. Updated 10/15/22 Amerisleep's AS5 was recently featured as the 'Best Soft Mattress in a Box' by Good Housekeeping , with the panel of reviewers noting: Pressure relief for side sleepers Taller than other boxed mattresses Good customer service    Amerisleep Mattress Reviews  We've been happy Amerisleep customers since purchasing our first AS3 mattress more than 9 years ago. Now we also have an AS2 and an AS4 (the AS3 is still our favorite). Born with chronic insomnia  (even as a baby - my family insists I was a nightmare), the struggle to improve my sleep is my life. My husband, the overly-analytical mechanical engineer, was initially skeptical of a mail-order mattress, but he was quickly won over. 2012: Wine glass test, sans wine. I was fairly confident our brand-new mattress would pass with f

The Winner of the Best in Show Award

After an exciting week of voting, a winning blog has jumped ahead of all the competition. Cue snazzy music! The winning blog can teach you how to make these easy (and sooo yummy looking!) cheesecake bars . The winning blog has super-cute photos ! See that little guy on the right? He recently had a birthday party. And, of course, the winning blogger receives a fancy schmancy award from LambAround: Ta da! Fancy schmancy, right? Congratulations, Everyday Easy ! I hope my readers will stop by today with some bloggy love for you. Leon is so stinking cute. I think Pica and Biscuit are a little jealous! Thanks to everyone who participated in the Not "Baaad" Sundays blog hop. Stay tuned for this weekend's linky, which will be up tomorrow, along with another fabulous bunch of Best in Show nominees to vote for. P.S. If you're in the market for a new mattress,  Amerisleep  is having a great sale this weekend. We love our Amerisleep mattress! Those

Construction Update: Electrical and Insulation (Finally!)

The "finally" mentioned in the title is totally aimed at our construction crew...and at myself. These photos were taken more than a month ago. I may be slightly behind on my blogging. In my defense, photos of insulated walls and wiring are only so interesting. When can I decorate?! I requested to have my photo taken next to our new fireplace "in the exact same pose as our builder, minus the yellow hat". My memory of the pose was off, but the hat was spot on. Though he's a great builder, there's no denying his trademark yellow hat was a big part of our decision to go with him. Here is a guy who won't balk at our dream of bright yellow doors and shutters , we'd thought, so young and naive in our pre-construction days. No can lights in this room...well, except for this one random can light. But don't worry. The builder is going to take it down tomorrow...or at least before installing insulation...no, drywalling...umm, I mean after dr

Winner of Best in Show

The winner of this week's best in show award is... P ica and Biscuit are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the winners name (or, perhaps, they are eagerly awaiting the moment when I get the camera out of their faces and let them get back to sleep) ...actually 2 winners!  Congratulations to While He Was Napping and North Dakota Kitchen, who tied with 9 votes each. You bloggers have made history with the first LambAround tie ever (you know, in the entire 3 weeks I've been doing this award!) Here is a sample of all the awesomeness you will find when you visit these 2 blogs: Adorable hair clips at While He Was Napping! Individual pies in jars at North Dakota Kitchen! Have a happy Friday, everyone!

Athlete Smathlete

I recently purchased the second bike I've ever owned in my life. Well, I guess the third if you count the pink and purple plastic one I had when I was four. It was stolen from our yard and I've been grouchy about it ever since, BTW. Saturday, Sexy Nerd and I went for a bike ride. Holy freaking heck. I suck at bike riding. It kicked my ass. That's the only time I've ever written that word on my blog, out of 981 posts. I'm writing this shortly after returning home from said ride and my mind is in a swearing kinda mode. Okay. To be fair, I just searched my site and the word 'ass' has actually appeared a handful of times. It's a small handful though. I'm a lady. Coasting downhill is great! I could just sit there on my pretty new bike and coast forever. Well, except that the seat is a bit firm. And my thumb keeps accidentally dinging the little bike bell. And the wind hurts my ears. Which reminds me of my pre-ride preparations. I packed water,

Linky Party! It's time for a Blog Hop

Sexy Nerd has been looking forward to today. He has the day off and his plan was to "walk off into the mountains with Pica". I'm fairly certain he meant he was taking her hiking, not ditching me and Biscuit forever, but either way, the weather today is lousy. And the allergens ! Oh, it's awful here in Albuquerque. AH-CHOO! At least Sexy Nerd had the day off. I'm typing this from my computer at work. It's my lunch break. Really truly! And now...

Floor Plan Update: Puppy Penthouse Edition

We've been making great progress on our custom floor plan. It's a bit better than the last one I shared, don't you think? In fact, there's a new feature I really love. Oh yes. Pica and Biscuit are getting their very own room! Almost 25 square feet all to themselves, with direct access to their own, private courtyard. Can you tell we don't have kids? We've nicknamed this the "Puppy Penthouse Room". Pica looks so happy in her new room. Or the "P.P. Room" for short. Kinda perfect, especially for a future puppy, wouldn't you agree?

Ah Choo!

It's that time of year again! The juniper has taken hold of our Albuquerque air and it seems like everyone is sneezing and scratching at their red, puffy eyes, myself included. My coworkers have been calling in sick, but I think their colds are really misdiagnosed allergies. Uggh, my head is pounding and my nose is driving me crazy! This time next year, I'm taking a cruise. Don't let me forget! It's 7pm. I think I'll go to bed. Here are last year's funny (IMHO) allergy posts, combined for extra awesomeness (also known as the lazy way of blogging, which confirms me yelling "I surrender!" to my allergies and to the universe). Enjoy! You know how I know that these allergies are getting the better of me? I had a conversation with Pica and Biscuit this morning. It went a little something like this: "Uuuuuuuugh! My throat is so sore that I'm losing my voice! I can barely talk! How am I going to work all day if I can't talk?" And, of

@sshole Dogs

You know it's going to be bad when you arrive home from work and notice that water is flowing underneath the door that leads into the house. Olive and Bernadette have their own doggy bedroom. It includes fittings for a sink, should we choose to install one in the future. We've never given much thought to the two metal arms jutting slightly out of the wall.  Olive and Bernadette stay inside their room when we're not home...for reasons that are now obvious. Photo of the exact moment our girls lost their run-of-the-house privileges. The hallway was full of water. Power cords were submerged. I'm no expert, but this seemed a tad dangerous. Concerned about what would greet me on the other side of the dog room door, I nervously pushed to open it...but it was stuck. That had never happened before. Throwing my weight against the wood door, it eventually burst open into a cloud of steam, revealing both dogs staring at me. They were soaking wet and ac

What is Embark? Dog DNA Test

Embark Coupon : Save $40 on an  Embark Breed + Health Kit  (Update: It seems Embark doesn't actually want anyone to use their referral program, as the referral codes constantly expire and reach a maximum limit of referrals and other silly nonsense. If you have any trouble with the coupon, please send me an email at kittydeschanel@gmail.com and I'll email you an Embark coupon that works.) What is Embark? You know those weird people who have DNA testing done on their dog? I haven't even bought a DNA kit for myself, but our dog DNA test results for Olive are ready! The Embark Breed + Health Kit was our Christmas present from my parents. They love their little granddoggy. And how could they not? Just look at that face: Olive is so cool in her Harley-Davidson jacket. Don't tell her I nabbed it off a stuffed animal. Dog DNA Test Can you picture me swabbing her cheek to get the DNA sample? I felt a bit ridiculous. Olive wasn't too happy about it either, as I figu
