A Sad Chicken

So sad.

Pottery Barn Chair

I need this chair. Actually, I need 4 of them. Maybe even six. Why, oh why, must they be $139.95 each?? Damn you, Pottery Barn. I will just have to DIY my own...somehow...with spray paint.

Bathroom Remodel Update: Because You Know You're Curious

The shower is gone! So much for that being "the absolute last step of the project". I guess using the guest bathroom isn't that bad. Just when you thought it couldn't get any messier... My pack rat side won't let me get rid of the old shower door. We donated the bathroom fan from the guest bathroom, and look what happened - we needed a fan for our remodeled master bathroom and had to buy a new one for $30! But realistically, what am I going to do with an old shower door? Maybe if our new walk-in shower opening ends up getting water everywhere, (Sexy Nerd swears it won't) we can use it again. A hidden passageway between the walls of the two bathrooms? We are so totally adding that space to the closet behind the wall on the left. Eventually, we're going to need to throw some things away. Not the old cabinets though. I don't know what we'll do with them, but as soon as they're gone, we'll think of the coolest use for them ever!

Grilled Chicken Kabobs And Peanut Butter Cookies

The weather in Albuquerque has been nice and warm lately. It's just right for grilling. What is Sexy Nerd making for dinner? Oooh! Yes, he needs to cook more often. Every other night just isn't cutting it anymore. Biscuit has been enjoying the weather too, but she's taking a break to beg for scraps. Darn, if only dogs liked chicken kabobs. Oh well, more for us! Being that he is a Sexy Nerd, he made some peanut butter cookies for dessert. Hold on, Kitchen Pig!

DIY Bathroom Remodel - An Update

*Update*  This bathroom remodel is finally finished! Here are the glorious AFTER photos. Even better, we've moved. Be sure to check out photos of the bathrooms in our new dream home in the mountains outside of Albuquerque, NM. I may be a bit biased, as we designed everything in the new house from scratch, but can confidently say they're stunning. Recently, I came home from work to discover that my husband had used his day off work to demolish our master bathroom - surprise! The new sink area is coming along nicely. It used to be 75% of SN's walk-in closest. Eventually, there will be a mosaic tile countertop joining the 2 sinks. There will also be a big, sparkly chandelier here, as well as an electric fireplace. Our "new" Jacuzzi tub (new to us, at least) is installed and ready for use. If only I had ordered the waterfall faucet sooner! What's that? You don't think we would actually take a bath with everything in the room destroy

Bathroom Inspiration

Sexy Nerd and I are still trying to decide how we want out remodeled bathroom to look. Technically, the best idea may have been to have something in mind before we started tearing down walls and ripping up linoleum, but oh well. I just found this lovely bathroom: Isn't it pretty? An all-white floor would be even better. The link to the blog where I found this photo is here . *Update* Our bathroom remodel is nearly done! Click here for photos.

Instant Hot Water Dispenser

How did I ever live without this? It's perfect for making tea. And if you're like my friend Paris, who claims this is a waste of money because it only takes a minute to heat water for tea in the microwave, I say to you PHOOEY!

Pancake Soup

I haven't had a chance to make this yet, but doesn't it look fun? Click here for the recipe, courtesy of the Delicious Days blog.

Easy Coleslaw Recipe for People Who Hate Coleslaw

You know how some coleslaw recipes are too goopy or too dry or too "blah"? My Sexy Nerd used to insist he hated all coleslaw...until he tried this. Not too goopy or too dry or too blah? Check! Thanks to food blogger Reeni, whose Honey Lime Dressing recipe inspired this. It helped jazz up my usual coleslaw recipe with tangy sweetness. The shredded coconut and pumpkin seeds elevate it above the coleslaw slop you get from KFC. Not that their coleslaw slop isn't tasty (actually, SN insists it is not at all tasty), but we're going the homemade (with love!) route with this coleslaw recipe. Easy Coleslaw Recipe for People Who Hate Coleslaw Ingredients: 1/3 C Miracle Whip or mayonnaise 1/3 C sour cream or plain yogurt 1 Tbsp honey 1 Tbsp brown mustard 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar 1 Tbsp lime juice 1/3 of a green cabbage, shredded 1/3 of a red cabbage, shredded 1 large carrot, shredded 1 celery stalk, diced 1/4 C shredded coconut, toasted 1/4 C pum

When You Are Engulfed In Flames

When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris is my new favorite book. So far, here are my favorite excerpts: "Once someone sent a cake to my room, and rather than call downstairs and ask for silverware I cut it with my credit card and ate the pieces with my fingers." ""I mean, why not give someone a blowjob?" the driver said. "It's just a penis, right? Probably no worse for you than smoking."" Awesome.

I Love This Mug

Someone, I have no idea who, gave me this mug for my birthday when I was in elementary school. Although I wasn't exactly thrilled to receive it (after all, you can't play with a mug), today it is one of my favorite possessions. I'd love to buy a set of mugs like this, but so far I haven't been able to find any others. Even eBay hasn't been able to help! The teabag, by the way, is there because I have been coffeeless for a little over a week. I'm giving it up in hope of sleeping better. No caffeine = how to sleep better, right? Instead, I have been having two cups of decaf green tea for breakfast and a cup of "Nighty Night" tea after dinner. I've tried this coffee fast before and it never actually improves my sleep. However, I'd like to think that all the green tea is at least boosting my immune system. Maybe it will even improve my memory. I'll memorize the locations of all 50 states once and for all! Update: Shortly after writing this
