Amerisleep AS3 Reviews

My Amerisleep AS3 Unboxing Video (Surprise, my voice is ridiculous!) If I can (just barely) do it, you can totally tackle a bed-in-a-box by yourself. Updated 10/15/22 Amerisleep's AS5 was recently featured as the 'Best Soft Mattress in a Box' by Good Housekeeping , with the panel of reviewers noting: Pressure relief for side sleepers Taller than other boxed mattresses Good customer service    Amerisleep Mattress Reviews  We've been happy Amerisleep customers since purchasing our first AS3 mattress more than 9 years ago. Now we also have an AS2 and an AS4 (the AS3 is still our favorite). Born with chronic insomnia  (even as a baby - my family insists I was a nightmare), the struggle to improve my sleep is my life. My husband, the overly-analytical mechanical engineer, was initially skeptical of a mail-order mattress, but he was quickly won over. 2012: Wine glass test, sans wine. I was fairly confident our brand-new mattress would pass with f

Sleep and Back Pain

In a move that has me feeling very old, today I'm sharing a guest post from Dr. Brent Wells, who is a chiropractor and member of the American Academy of Spine Physicians...because oh, my back.  I've been working from home (we're in another Covid lockdown!) and it turns out that my cute wooden chair from Anthropologie needs to be strictly decorative. Oops. What's the best sleep position for back pain? Which mattress relieves pain? Advice from the founder of Better Health Chiropractic & Physical Rehab: Why Proper Sleep Posture Is Vital For Avoiding Back Pain Sleep is a necessity. Your time in bed is bringing you rest and relaxation. Sleep is supposed to give the body time to rest to prepare for the next day, but waking up with back pain makes each day more difficult than the next. Insomnia from back pain makes each day a struggle. All too often, back pain and discomfort is due to improper sleep posture. Like sitting and standing, the body can be negatively affec

So Many Things to Do! Photos from Washington DC

*There's a list of can't-miss places and DC things to do at the end of this post, including our favorite restaurants. Sexy Nerd and I are home from our annual trip to Washington, DC. (And have been for several weeks, obviously. What a strange time we're living.) It's such a gorgeous, walkable city. I'd love to move there one day, even if only for a year or two. We could get a place near the water in Alexandria or within steps of the zoo. Did you know you can buy a condo at the Watergate? My thinking is that we can splurge on a place above our budget and really live it up while we're there, then just sell it when we move and get our money back. Sexy Nerd says that's not how it works. Isn't it though? I bought a new phone with a top-rated camera just in time - it arrived 1 day before this trip. Behold, the first selfie on my Google Pixel 3a. My previous phone was already outdated when I bought it refurbished in 2014, so this is an exciting

Foster a Dog (and Meet Bernadette!)

Want to  foster a dog ? Tips at the end of this post. Remember the other day when I shared that I'm a  Bernadette Peters  fan? Meet our silly goofball, Bernadette. Three dogs?! To be fair, one is only a foster dog...except we love her so much that we're adopting her!  Top: Bernadette's fearful "Before" photo, taken at the shelter Bottom: Bernadette's cheerful "After" photo, taken the day we brought her home Bernadette, originally named Tulip, had arrived at the shelter as a stray. She was so fearful that I was not able to pet her even once during the two hours we spent in her large pen at the Bernalillo County, NM shelter.  Her ears were down and her tail was tucked between her legs. She was exhausted from pacing in circles nonstop. The shelter gave us handfuls of treats to offer, but even these weren't enough to coax her to come near. SN and I both wondered if fostering her was a mistake. So what changed our mind? H

How to Detox

I don't know about you, but with all the craziness in the world right now, I've been feeling pretty stressed. It would be great if my response to this was to go for a run or get some extra sleep, but instead I've been turning to unhealthy coping vices, like tubs of ice cream. (So many tubs!)  When a reader emailed to suggest a guest post about how to detox , it sounded like exactly what I need right now. How to Detox (Guest Article) Cleaning is an important aspect of my life, as I'm sure it is yours. I always believed that living in a clean environment greatly predetermines my optimal health. And by a clean environment, I mean a clean home to live in and a clean bed to sleep in, but much more than that I need a clean mind and body.  As a clean external environment is very rare to find nowadays, my internal cleansing has become an important part of my self-care routine as a proper support to my physical and mental health. My body is my temple. The
