Travel Hacking 101

Travel Hacking Travel hacking expert and guest poster, Laura, shares tips to save $ on your next vacation. No time? She'll even help book your discounted trip for you! I like to think of myself as quite the travel hacker. Sexy Nerd and I have a Southwest Companion Pass  and we've taken cruises for around $25 per person, per night.  Compared to expert travel hacker, Laura with Travel Hacking 101, that's nothing. Travel Hacking 101 teaches you how to use credit card points and miles to make your travel dreams a reality. Just by using your regular everyday spending, you can earn valuable points and sign-up bonuses that can drastically reduce the price of travel.  For example, my family’s recent trip to Egypt only cost us: • $155 round trip for 3 people • $600 for 13 nights in five-star hotels Next we’re headed for Thailand, with three round-trip tickets from the US for $203 total! All of this is possible without incurring any debt, and without hurting your credit score. Follo

My Awkward Haircut Story

You know those girls who obsess over their hair and have a standing appointment with the salon every 6 weeks? That's not me. I've always been the type of girl who gets her hair cut just once or twice a year - whenever Great Clips or Super Cuts sends out a $4.99 haircut coupon.  When Groupon offered 50% off at a top-rated salon, I decided to splurge. The deal included highlights and a glamorous cut. I'd only had experience with adding my own highlights at home , not quite successfully, and was in over my head. Haircut Story Haircut story from a girl who has no idea what to do at the salon. Because these things always seem to happen to me, I have a silly haircut story from the salon.  I wish I'd thought to bring my camera with me. When my hair was being highlighted and was crimped into dozens of foil pieces, I looked like I could have been the baby of the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. I suppose them having a baby together would overshadow my snazzy new haircut. About tho

15 Fun Things To Do in Hobart, Tasmania

After our 2-week Tasmania road trip , my plan is to retire in Hobart one day. There are so many fun things to do! Just call us Tasmaniacs. For the Hobart portion of our grand Australian adventure, we did not need a rental car. Other than an occasional Uber (the Hobart airport is much further away than we'd expected), we found Hobart to be a pleasantly walkable city, even in May. Remember kids, May in the USA = nice. May on the opposite side of the world = well, still pretty darn nice. Don't miss out on Tasmania when you visit Australia. Here is our complete guide to the best things to do in Hobart , plus a couple of places you can skip: Things to Do in Hobart I'll start with everyone's favorite, the food. Food is what travel is all about, isn't it? If I could go back in time, I'd shake my younger self by the shoulders and say, You're on Vacation!   Stop eating at McDonalds! If your fondest vacation memories are of the things you ate, you can't
