Everyone Seems Sad. Biscuit Will Cheer Us Up!

*Post-work update: My boss spent the day talking about her Maxi Pad (she can never remember the word iPad) and basically being overall fun and lovable. She knows she was in trouble. I'm sure of it! I just can't stay mad at her though.

Posted this morning:

Thank you to everyone who commented about my CRAPPY day yesterday. I was hoping to go to bed and wake up feeling better about it but no luck. Really, the thing that made me mad was something my boss said, and I'm sure she had no idea that she was saying anything wrong, so it does seem silly to be upset with her. It was just a dumb comment.

Actually, let's see what you think of it. I don't want to pull a Dooce, of course, but this really got under my skin. To summarize, my boss said that she still thinks of me like I'm a 20 year old and she always will. Okay, so you think of me the exact same way as when I was first hired...

...when I had zero experience...
...when I was working, like, 3 hours a week...
...when you didn't even feel comfortable enough to let me answer the phone...
...before I graduated with my psychology degree... married...
...bought a house...
...worked for you for 6 years...
...while never calling in...
...always willing to stay late...
...helping you with everything, office-related and personal...

Oh, and did I mention that I was originally going to have the day off yesterday but I came in to help out my coworker?

It feels nice to get that out in the open. Yes, no matter how long I stay or how much I contribute or how hard I work, I have absolutely no chance whatsoever of making any kind of advancement at my current job. Even Pam on The Office eventually got past everyone discrediting her as "just the receptionist". And to all the commenters who had an equally sucky day yesterday, Biscuit wants to try to put a smile on your face:

Have a splendid day, my bloggy friends!

  1. Boo that comment but yah for Biscuit pics! Thanks for sharing.

  2. That is very frustrating! I think it is so difficult to be younger in a workplace. Even at 32, I am the youngest by about 10 years in my group. Always have been the youngest in my groups. I also have a very young voice, so it is difficult to be taken seriously. The big problem is my job is a project manager, so I have to have control of my groups. I am CONSTANTLY coming up against people who give me the condescending "how cuuuute, you want to tell me what to do?"

It is an unfortunate fact that more than likely your boss will realize how she overlooked you once you are gone. I hope she gets it before then!

  3. too CUTE! ya tell me about it! im 24 and i want people to stop thinking about me like im 24! i can imagine what would happen in a few years if they still felt that way. You spen so much time proving your not just a kid, that your a mature and responsible adult, but no matter what they only see the kid. ARRGGGGGG i get it lamb! but in the end you cant control people, only yourself. So whatever, forget the stupid comment and just continue being awesome!

  4. I just hit something and sent off a half-finished incoherent comment. I'm sick and raving anyway. Your dog is really cute. Hope today was better.

  5. Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day. Sure looks like you have fun around here. Most days. Glad your boss tried to make up for her stupidness yesterday. Your dogs are adorable!

  6. Visiting from the blog hop. Glad I found you!

  7. LOL, I'm with you girl. Now that I'm out of the workforce for now I can look back and laugh at it because it was so ridiculous! Just because you're young doesn't mean you're stupid, LOL. bleh.....i could go on and on...but know you are sooooo not alone :)

i'm a new follower from the facebook friday follow! you can find me at
