Feeling Wicked

Poor Sexy Nerd. Now that I've finally seen Wicked, I can't stop dancing and singing (off key) throughout the house.

People are so nice in London. I bought the cheapest ticket and sat down at the back of the theater. Then, an employee came over, checked her seating list, and moved me much closer to the stage at no extra charge! She called me "love" in the cutest accent.

The Trouble with Travel

***UPDATE: Amerisleep has started a new referral program. If you order your mattress through this link, you'll save an additional $50 on top of other discounts and specials!!!***

Sexy Nerd and I spent last week traveling to and from London. Did you catch that little news story where all the airports in Chicago had to be cancelled because of a control tower fire? We were totally flying to Chicago (or trying to, at least) when that was happening. What are the odds?

During our trip, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and the much fancier, luxurious Crowne Plaza. Both hotels had one important thing in common...

Their beds made us miss our Amerisleep mattress! Like, reeeeeally miss it. Neither of the hotels use memory foam mattresses. We had forgotten how uncomfortable a conventional mattress can be. My back is still killing me!

At the Holiday Inn Express, my mattress was so soft it felt like I was falling down into it. The sides rose up to surround me, like a taco. There was also something inside the mattress (a spring?) that kept poking me, but it was running right through the middle so it was impossible to avoid. I think it's actually a fairly new hotel, so I was surprised by how worn the beds seemed.

At the Crowne Plaza, they supposedly make sleep their #1 priority. We were even given a little goody box of sleep-inducing pillow mist and pressure point oil. However, their fancy mattress was so firm that it felt like they'd simply taken a board of wood and wrapped it in fabric. Our first night, I actually considered sleeping on the floor because the carpet seemed like it would be softer.

Of course, who wants to put their face on hotel carpet? Yuck!

Back at home in Albuquerque, we've had our Amerisleep Liberty Bed mattress for almost half a decade now (my original review from 2012 can be found here) and it's 100% as comfortable as when it was new. Yes, it cost slightly more than a cheap, spring mattress, but those are supposed to be replaced every 7 years or so. (And if they're crappy, like our old Simmons Beautyrest, they won't even be comfortable after one year!) Based on how nonexistent the wear and tear on our Amerisleep mattress is, I'll be surprised if we don't keep it forever.

 London, baby!
(With dark sunglasses to hide our sleepy eyes.)

Baby Geese!

You have to stop and take a photo whenever you come across goslings, with all their adorable peepery and fluffiness.

Much to Sexy Nerd's dismay, we've been coming across groups of sweet baby geese like these several times a day!

Yes, Sexy Nerd, we do need to stop every time.
(And, no, I have not been attacked by any mama geese yet!)

Peep! Peep! Peep!

Blog Hop Blog Hop Blog Hop

My Wi-Fi is finally working reliably...I think...

And, yes, we are here for the "epic victory". The crowds are rowdy!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Party Time!

I finally got Sexy Nerd to join me at Golden Corral for lunch today. He loooooved it! Did you know they make their own cotton candy?

Have a great weekend, my bloggy friends! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to through this week's blog hop. You're a crafty bunch!

Best Vitamix Green Smoothie Recipe

I don't usually (or ever) post Vitamix recipes here. It's not that I don't think people would be interested in trying my homemade Vitamix recipes. My blender creations have just never been good enough to share. In fact, many of them have been borderline revolting.

After much trial and error, however, I am happy to announce that I finally have a delicious Vitamix winner! Just look at this beautiful green smoothie:

Note my dapper Frog Prince admiring its green loveliness.

(And yes, it really is a creamy "Green Smoothie", not a "Green Juice".)

LambAround's Best Vitamix Green Smoothie Recipe
(Makes 40 ounces)

Throw the following into the blender:
  • 1 Mango
  • 1 Orange (or 2 oranges, if yours are itty bitty like mine!)
  • 1 Radish
  • 1 Kale Leaf (a great, big one!)
  • 1/2 a Cucumber
  • 1 Tbsp Flax Seeds
  • 2 Tbsps Chia Seeds
  • 1/2 Can of Pineapple with Juice (10 ounces)
  • 2 Celery Stalks
  • 1 Small Parsley Sprig
  • 1 Cup Water
Before blending, let everything mellow together in the fridge for at least 15 minutes. This way, the chia seeds will have time to soak up the water and get nice and gelatin-y. I love to put everything into my Vitamix blender before bed. This makes an easy, refreshing breakfast drink.

Before blending, add a heaping cup of ice. After everything is mixed together, top off the water to the 40 ounce line and re-blend.

The warm weather has finally returned to Albuquerque. Sexy Nerd says this is the perfect green drink to enjoy while gardening!

Blog Hop/Linky Party (Fun, Fun, Fun!)

The sunny, hammock weather has returned to Albuquerque! Our doggies couldn't be happier.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
