A Change in Plans Step 1: Sexy Nerd and I have way too much going on to even think about planning a vacation, so we will just browse through our photos of our trip to Savannah and Charleston last year. Sexy Nerd's job requires him to travel almost every week. He flies so many places so frequently, half the time I'm not even sure where he is. I just asked him if he saw the zebra balloon in the air over Albuquerque yesterday morning and he said no. I asked if he'd seen any balloons and he said no. Incredulously, I asked how that could possibly be, as there are hot air balloons everywhere right now. He hasn't seen any balloons because he hasn't been here. Oh, right. Sexy Nerd and I are home from an impulsive trip to Texas. We brought home a car from Dallas! I'd planned to buy a 2022 Ford Mach-E, then decided to upgrade to a 2022 Jaguar I-Pace. Then I remembered that I'm a cheapskate and bought something much better. Care to guess what I bought? Fully loaded, it's quite an upgrade from my 2013 Chevy Volt , which is a terrific car for a Texas road trip, BTW. (It's totally cheating to guess if we already told you. ) The drive home from Dallas wasn't bad. The weather was really bad - ridiculous Texas winds knocked out power at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel, leaving us without water or elevator service on the 24th floor (!!!), but the drive wasn't bad. (The hotel staff did an excellent job given the circumstances outside their control, BTW. Go Marriott!) We're fully vaccinated and making up for missed travel, ESPECIALLY the missed meals. How is pimento cheese not a thing in New Mexico ? We can add green chile to it! Sexy Nerd and I were fortunate to spend a day in Savannah recently. With such a limited amount of time for our first visit to the city, I made sure to research the best restaurants and local foods to eat. From brunch through dessert, I've done my homework (and my taste testing - being a travel and food blogger is such a rough job) so you don't have to risk a disappointing meal in Savannah. There's something here for every budget, including free samples of local favorites. No car = no problem, as you can walk to everywhere on this list from the North Historic District (near the Savannah River), which is also home to all of the must-see tourist stops in Savannah, including Forsyth Park, The Basilica of St. John the Baptist, and SCADstory.
