Road Trip Day 2: Las Cruces to Tucson

Time to hit the road. After about an hour, we stopped to stretch our legs at a park I'd seen on the Deming tourism site. Sexy Nerd doubted that Deming even had a tourism site and was concerned that stopping there would lead to our deaths. It was such a neat park that even Sexy Nerd lightened up. I would never plan for us to go somewhere dangerous...as long as you don't count that Super 8 in Kissimmee. Things were okay until I got into bed and found something tucked into the sheets. But that's a different story. Deming should advertise this park as a botanical garden. Back on the road to Tucson, we saw many interesting sights. Has anyone out there ever actually stopped to see The Thing? I told Sexy Nerd that I've been there and that it's just a totem pole, but I just said that because I don't want to pay $2 for us to see it. I checked online. It's a mummy and a bunch of junk. $2 could buy us lunch at McDonalds! Everything was going well.

Road Trip Day 1: Albuquerque to Nellie's Cafe, Las Cruces

After downing a couple cups of coffee, we started our day nice and early (8 am). I packed us some healthy snacks, including peanut butter and honey sandwiches, which don't need any refrigeration. For those of you wondering about the can of soup, it is an ideal hotel room food. Just serve it in the coffee cups. Our first stop. We lasted about an hour on the road. Damn you, coffee. In about 3 1/2 hours, we arrived in Las Cruces. For lunch, we went to Nellie's Cafe, Las Cruces which I'd read about on TripAdvisor. It looked like a decent place, but getting a table was confusing. First, we waited at the front door, hoping a server would seat us. After a few minutes, a waitress told us we need to put our name on the list around the corner.  We searched for a while and finally found the list posted in the doorway of the dishwashing area. After adding our name, we went outside to wait. There were plenty of empty tables inside. Ten minutes later, a man propped the door ope

Blog Hop/Linky Party (Fun, Fun, Fun!)

The sunny, hammock weather has returned to Albuquerque! Our doggies couldn't be happier. Have a great weekend, everyone! *And, just a friendly reminder, click the name of the linked post to visit that link OR click on the photo to share the post on Pinterest.

Snow, Gosh Darn It!

Sexy Nerd and I were all set last weekend to go away on a little vacation. We both had Friday off and had decided to drive down to Las Cruces, El Paso, Carlsbad, and Roswell. The weather had been AWESOME (as proven by our BBQ photos). Fun activities included the El Paso Zoo, the Las Cruces Farmer's Market, Carlsbad Caverns, and shopping (lots and lots of shopping! Glorious shopping!!) We had even researched where we would eat (the online world seems to love Nellie's Cafe and Andele Restaurant in Las Cruces). Our reservations at La Quinta and The Drury Inn were made and our itinerary was printed. We got up nice and early (5am!) on Friday to discover that IT WAS SNOWING! Stupid New Mexico.

A Sad Chicken

So sad.

Pottery Barn Chair

I need this chair. Actually, I need 4 of them. Maybe even six. Why, oh why, must they be $139.95 each?? Damn you, Pottery Barn. I will just have to DIY my own...somehow...with spray paint.

Bathroom Remodel Update: Because You Know You're Curious

The shower is gone! So much for that being "the absolute last step of the project". I guess using the guest bathroom isn't that bad. Just when you thought it couldn't get any messier... My pack rat side won't let me get rid of the old shower door. We donated the bathroom fan from the guest bathroom, and look what happened - we needed a fan for our remodeled master bathroom and had to buy a new one for $30! But realistically, what am I going to do with an old shower door? Maybe if our new walk-in shower opening ends up getting water everywhere, (Sexy Nerd swears it won't) we can use it again. A hidden passageway between the walls of the two bathrooms? We are so totally adding that space to the closet behind the wall on the left. Eventually, we're going to need to throw some things away. Not the old cabinets though. I don't know what we'll do with them, but as soon as they're gone, we'll think of the coolest use for them ever!

Grilled Chicken Kabobs And Peanut Butter Cookies

The weather in Albuquerque has been nice and warm lately. It's just right for grilling. What is Sexy Nerd making for dinner? Oooh! Yes, he needs to cook more often. Every other night just isn't cutting it anymore. Biscuit has been enjoying the weather too, but she's taking a break to beg for scraps. Darn, if only dogs liked chicken kabobs. Oh well, more for us! Being that he is a Sexy Nerd, he made some peanut butter cookies for dessert. Hold on, Kitchen Pig!

DIY Bathroom Remodel - An Update

*Update*  This bathroom remodel is finally finished! Here are the glorious AFTER photos. Even better, we've moved. Be sure to check out photos of the bathrooms in our new dream home in the mountains outside of Albuquerque, NM. I may be a bit biased, as we designed everything in the new house from scratch, but can confidently say they're stunning. Recently, I came home from work to discover that my husband had used his day off work to demolish our master bathroom - surprise! The new sink area is coming along nicely. It used to be 75% of SN's walk-in closest. Eventually, there will be a mosaic tile countertop joining the 2 sinks. There will also be a big, sparkly chandelier here, as well as an electric fireplace. Our "new" Jacuzzi tub (new to us, at least) is installed and ready for use. If only I had ordered the waterfall faucet sooner! What's that? You don't think we would actually take a bath with everything in the room destroy
