24 Cookies for $7 Shipped!

*Update* I just noticed that there is an additional charge to ship outside of Raleigh, which is only mentioned on the cookie website, not on Groupon. The information also was not on the cookie site this morning. Hmmm... Original Post: I was stunned to see this deal on Groupon this morning but for some reason didn't think to share it here until tonight when I was telling Sexy Nerd about it. For just $7, you can get 24 Kerrigan's sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, or a dozen of each kind, and shipping is included! According to the site, Kerrigan's Cookies uses only wholesome, organic ingredients. It's a pretty remarkable deal when you think about it. I think Groupon keeps some crazy amount of your purchase for themselves, like 50%, so it's hard to imagine that Kerrigan's Cookies isn't losing money on this promotion. Wouldn't the shipping alone be at least $7? To get the deal: 1. Visit Groupon and sign in or create an account. 2. Click the l

You're Never Too Old for a Princess Bedroom

Isn't this the most beautiful bedroom you've ever seen? I want to recreate this for our guest bedroom, albeit with a more sophisticated color scheme (green or dark blue, perhaps?) and mural (toile, anyone?). Geez, look at that amazing rug! I'm thinking that Sexy Nerd can build the bed for the room (he, uh, doesn't know this yet, but I'm sure he'll be thrilled!) Come to think of it, I could probably sucker him into sweetly convince him to build a couple of side tables while he's at it. One big design factor is that this will need to be a guest room and my office, all rolled into one and, ideally, all while looking just as stunning as in the above photo. The layout of the actual room is almost identical to the photo, minus the doors. If anyone out there has any great office/bedroom photos to share, I'd love the link! Ooh, and yoga! It should have space for a yoga mat and a little TV and DVD player. I've never done yoga, but then again, I neve

Link Up! Not "Baaad" Blog Hop

After a long, crappy week, let's throw off our worries and party it up with another Not "Baaad" Sundays blog hop! Remember, this is not just another run-of-the-mill linky. There are 3 things that make my Linky special: 1. This Linky is open to all posts that you are proud of. Did you recently post about a great decorating project, craft, or recipe? That's wonderful if you did, but just fine if you didn't. I just want you to link to a post or posts you are proud of. 2. Do you ever find yourself trying not to duplicate posts on blog hops but aren't quite sure what you posted the previous weeks? Problem solved! The Linky from today will return in the future, making it easy to see what you've posted before (and giving you a 2nd chance to visit any great posts you may have missed!) 3. You are competing with other bloggers for the Best in Show award. Nominees are (almost always) announced on Monday and the world (at least, the sliver of world that visits L

Best in Show Award

Duh nuh na nuh, (or however you write that fancy fanfare music) presenting the grand winner of this week's Best in Show award:   AND That's right. With exactly 33 votes each, Taradara and Our Growing Garden both get to take an award button! Congratulations, you fabulous blogging gals! Taradara, I hope you don't mind being slightly smooshed. Yes, I could have written your award as Tara Dara, but as a fellow blogger whose title is being forever separated, (ahem, it's LambAround, not Lamb space Around) I just couldn't bring myself to do it. And to all my super-snazzy readers here at LambAround, (see?) I hope you will visit the winners. Really, can you resist the insane cuteness that is James from Our Growing Garden? Take a look: From the blogger who brought you Oiled Butt Massages , here is Chomp Chomp. And don't forget to swing by Taradara! After you have recovered all your icky old chairs with her help, (which, by the way, I still really need to do) you mi

The Messy Fridge Chronicles

Most people would hide this. Is it normal to have this many condiments??

Everyone Seems Sad. Biscuit Will Cheer Us Up!

*Post-work update: My boss spent the day talking about her Maxi Pad (she can never remember the word iPad) and basically being overall fun and lovable. She knows she was in trouble. I'm sure of it! I just can't stay mad at her though. Posted this morning: Thank you to everyone who commented about my CRAPPY day yesterday. I was hoping to go to bed and wake up feeling better about it but no luck. Really, the thing that made me mad was something my boss said, and I'm sure she had no idea that she was saying anything wrong, so it does seem silly to be upset with her. It was just a dumb comment. Actually, let's see what you think of it. I don't want to pull a Dooce , of course, but this really got under my skin. To summarize, my boss said that she still thinks of me like I'm a 20 year old and she always will. Okay, so you think of me the exact same way as when I was first hired... ...when I had zero experience... ...when I was working, like, 3 hours a week...

Too Grouchy to Think of a Title

That about sums up how work went for me today. How about you?

Announcing the Best in Show Award Nominees

I've finally returned to post this week's nominees for the Best in Show award. Sorry for the delay. Laziness has been calling to me! We did have a delightful time at tea on Saturday and I'm hoping to share photos tomorrow. So, which bloggers went above and beyond with their posts last weekend? Let's take a look: Not Just a Mommy posted a super-sweet, not to mention easy to make, Valentine's Day gift idea. Our Growing Garden was guaranteed a nomination for the Best in Show award when I saw this photo and the name of the post - Oiled Butt Massages! HA! Pinkapotamus used an unwanted banana stand to hold a homemade Valentine's Day birdcage. Days at Buttermilk Cottage has me ready for spring! Did you know it's simple to grow your own violets from one stem? The Blackberry Vine appealed to my inner-Hippie with these groovy cake pops. Taradara snazzed up a set of old chairs. I've been meaning to recover our dining room chairs for several years an

Not "Baaad" Sundays Blog Hop

Welcome back to another fabulous Not "Baaad" Sundays Linky Party! I'll be posting the nominees for the Best in Show award a little later on. Right now, I'm on my way to host a tea party! I found this adorable jeweled sticker in the clearance bin at Michaels. Perfect for the envelope!  I'm not thrilled with that icky greenish paper under the crown, but these things are going to happen when you're a procrastinator. I stuck everything together and ran off to work a minute late! And, yes, my original tea party had to be rescheduled. I like today better anyway - we're going to toast Annabel Violet Spohr's first birthday! Happy birthday, Annie! Now, in case you've forgotten, (can't blame you - it's been a looooong week!) there are 2 things that make my blog hop special: 1. This Linky is open to all posts that you are proud of. Did you recently post about a great decorating project, craft, or recipe? That's wonderful if you did, but ju

Wondering Who Won? Sure You Are!

Thank you so much to everyone who voted in this week's Best in Show competition. It was a very close race, but on the last day one talented blogger ran away with the election. You might recognize some of her work: Who wouldn't want to receive one of these darling cherry cards? Love the blue nail polish! Congratulations, Fuzzy Slippers Designs ! I spent longer than I'd planned browsing through all your creative posts. There are so many fun card designs! Here is your award: Thank you to all the bloggers who participated in the Not "Baaad" Sundays blog hop last weekend. The linky will be back up tomorrow, along with another chance to win the Best in Show award. I hope to see you soon!

Hush Puppies - Right Way and Wrong Way

I found the recipe for these hush puppies here . I had half a can of creamed corn to use up, so I decided to make hush puppies. Just look at all that oil! While waiting for the first batch to finish cooking, I decided to take a photo of my recently organized pantry. By next week, when it's no longer neat and tidy, I'm really going to appreciate this photo! Why do we have so many cans of tomato soup?? After frying up 3 batches, here is all the oil that was left: That's right - absolutely none whatsoever! But that can't be right. Sexy Nerd and I didn't eat all that oil, did we? How much was in the pan to begin with? Come to think of it, I'd rather not know how much oil we started with. Feeling a little guilty and grossed out from frying up so many hush puppy sponges, I decided to experiment with cooking the rest of the batter like a giant, corny pancake. *This is not recommended if you want your hush puppies to taste like hush puppies! A

Cheapskate

Sexy Nerd constantly harasses me about my thrifty ways. His case against me may have improved last night, when he was cutting a zucchini and this happened: He claims that he could have lost a finger and perhaps even have been killed. Maybe it was just an extra-tough zucchini? On a side note, has anyone seen any bargains on knives lately? I think we have plenty - an entire drawer full of ones just like this! - but I suspect Sexy Nerd is going to throw them out.

Tucson: Reid Park Zoo and Winterhaven Festival of Lights

Sexy Nerd and I visited my family in Tucson for Christmas (remember the airport frisking I received? Good times.) I blogged about Christmas day, but was a bit lazy about the rest. When you think about it, January 17th is really pretty close to December 26th. The Plan: Everyone meet for breakfast, then head next door to the Reid Park Zoo with my cousin, her husband, and their 2 kids The Reality: The restaurant that we drove across town to eat at was closed. No biggie. Sexy Nerd and I love McDonalds breakfast burritos (and I love Cinnamelts! Oooh, the ooey gooeyness!) Change in Plans: Follow my aunt and uncle's car. We'll eat breakfast at their house instead. Back across town. Waaaay past the Reid Park Zoo. Past several McDonalds. Have you ever noticed how spread out everything in Tucson is? Albuquerque is much more compact. What to do when going back and forth in an unfamiliar city while a frustrated Sexy Nerd drives and ignores you? Self portraits! At my au
