24 Cookies for $7 Shipped!

I just noticed that there is an additional charge to ship outside of Raleigh, which is only mentioned on the cookie website, not on Groupon. The information also was not on the cookie site this morning. Hmmm...

Original Post:

I was stunned to see this deal on Groupon this morning but for some reason didn't think to share it here until tonight when I was telling Sexy Nerd about it. For just $7, you can get 24 Kerrigan's sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, or a dozen of each kind, and shipping is included! According to the site, Kerrigan's Cookies uses only wholesome, organic ingredients. It's a pretty remarkable deal when you think about it. I think Groupon keeps some crazy amount of your purchase for themselves, like 50%, so it's hard to imagine that Kerrigan's Cookies isn't losing money on this promotion. Wouldn't the shipping alone be at least $7?

To get the deal:
1. Visit Groupon and sign in or create an account.
2. Click the link for Raleigh, North Carolina (and, no, you don't have to live in Raleigh to buy this!)
3. The Kerrigan's Cookies offer is a side deal today, so you'll find it on the right hand side of the page.

You're allowed to purchase up to 5 of these groupons and they don't expire until August. Just think of all the things coming up before August - Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, 4th of July. Not to mention all the birthdays, anniversaries, and year-end gifts for teachers.

And, of course, if you know of any other amazing (not spam!) deals out there, let me know!

I have not been compensated in any way by Groupon or Kerrigan's Cookies for this post, nor are they aware that I have written this. I'm just a gal who loves a great deal!

You're Never Too Old for a Princess Bedroom

Isn't this the most beautiful bedroom you've ever seen?

I want to recreate this for our guest bedroom, albeit with a more sophisticated color scheme (green or dark blue, perhaps?) and mural (toile, anyone?). Geez, look at that amazing rug! I'm thinking that Sexy Nerd can build the bed for the room (he, uh, doesn't know this yet, but I'm sure he'll be thrilled!)

Come to think of it, I could probably sucker him into sweetly convince him to build a couple of side tables while he's at it.

One big design factor is that this will need to be a guest room and my office, all rolled into one and, ideally, all while looking just as stunning as in the above photo. The layout of the actual room is almost identical to the photo, minus the doors. If anyone out there has any great office/bedroom photos to share, I'd love the link!

Ooh, and yoga! It should have space for a yoga mat and a little TV and DVD player. I've never done yoga, but then again, I never had a yoga room before.

And, because I know you're dying (dying!) to see more photos related to that lovely purple bedroom, you might want to click on over to Inhabitat. The room is from the 2010 Incredible Healthy Home, also known as one of my many dream homes.

Link Up! Not "Baaad" Blog Hop

After a long, crappy week, let's throw off our worries and party it up with another Not "Baaad" Sundays blog hop! Remember, this is not just another run-of-the-mill linky. There are 3 things that make my Linky special:

1. This Linky is open to all posts that you are proud of. Did you recently post about a great decorating project, craft, or recipe? That's wonderful if you did, but just fine if you didn't. I just want you to link to a post or posts you are proud of.

2. Do you ever find yourself trying not to duplicate posts on blog hops but aren't quite sure what you posted the previous weeks? Problem solved! The Linky from today will return in the future, making it easy to see what you've posted before (and giving you a 2nd chance to visit any great posts you may have missed!)

3. You are competing with other bloggers for the Best in Show award. Nominees are (almost always) announced on Monday and the world (at least, the sliver of world that visits LambAround) will vote for their favorite linked blog post.

Good times, right? Of course, I do ask that you link directly to your post and include a photo from that post, not just your blog logo. And if you could post my Not "Baaad" Sundays button or at the very least a link with your post, well that would be just dandy!

And linking and leaving, you party poopers! Please get out there and visit some of your fellow linked bloggers! When I'm trying to determine who to nominate for the Best in Show award, the posts of people who have left comments saying they were sent over by LambAround always look just a bit nicer.

Best in Show Award

Duh nuh na nuh, (or however you write that fancy fanfare music) presenting the grand winner of this week's Best in Show award:
That's right. With exactly 33 votes each, Taradara and Our Growing Garden both get to take an award button! Congratulations, you fabulous blogging gals! Taradara, I hope you don't mind being slightly smooshed. Yes, I could have written your award as Tara Dara, but as a fellow blogger whose title is being forever separated, (ahem, it's LambAround, not Lamb space Around) I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

And to all my super-snazzy readers here at LambAround, (see?) I hope you will visit the winners. Really, can you resist the insane cuteness that is James from Our Growing Garden? Take a look:

From the blogger who brought you Oiled Butt Massages, here is Chomp Chomp.

And don't forget to swing by Taradara! After you have recovered all your icky old chairs with her help, (which, by the way, I still really need to do) you might enjoy learning how to turn a free (!) side table into something fun, like this:

Thank you to everyone who participated! I'll see you tomorrow for another Not "Baaad" linky party!

The Messy Fridge Chronicles

Most people would hide this.

Is it normal to have this many condiments??

Everyone Seems Sad. Biscuit Will Cheer Us Up!

*Post-work update: My boss spent the day talking about her Maxi Pad (she can never remember the word iPad) and basically being overall fun and lovable. She knows she was in trouble. I'm sure of it! I just can't stay mad at her though.

Posted this morning:

Thank you to everyone who commented about my CRAPPY day yesterday. I was hoping to go to bed and wake up feeling better about it but no luck. Really, the thing that made me mad was something my boss said, and I'm sure she had no idea that she was saying anything wrong, so it does seem silly to be upset with her. It was just a dumb comment.

Actually, let's see what you think of it. I don't want to pull a Dooce, of course, but this really got under my skin. To summarize, my boss said that she still thinks of me like I'm a 20 year old and she always will. Okay, so you think of me the exact same way as when I was first hired...

...when I had zero experience...
...when I was working, like, 3 hours a week...
...when you didn't even feel comfortable enough to let me answer the phone...
...before I graduated with my psychology degree...
...got married...
...bought a house...
...worked for you for 6 years...
...while never calling in...
...always willing to stay late...
...helping you with everything, office-related and personal...

Oh, and did I mention that I was originally going to have the day off yesterday but I came in to help out my coworker?

It feels nice to get that out in the open. Yes, no matter how long I stay or how much I contribute or how hard I work, I have absolutely no chance whatsoever of making any kind of advancement at my current job. Even Pam on The Office eventually got past everyone discrediting her as "just the receptionist". And to all the commenters who had an equally sucky day yesterday, Biscuit wants to try to put a smile on your face:

Have a splendid day, my bloggy friends!

Too Grouchy to Think of a Title

That about sums up how work went for me today. How about you?

Announcing the Best in Show Award Nominees

I've finally returned to post this week's nominees for the Best in Show award. Sorry for the delay. Laziness has been calling to me! We did have a delightful time at tea on Saturday and I'm hoping to share photos tomorrow.

So, which bloggers went above and beyond with their posts last weekend? Let's take a look:

Not Just a Mommy posted a super-sweet, not to mention easy to make, Valentine's Day gift idea.

Our Growing Garden was guaranteed a nomination for the Best in Show award when I saw this photo and the name of the post - Oiled Butt Massages! HA!

Pinkapotamus used an unwanted banana stand to hold a homemade Valentine's Day birdcage.

Days at Buttermilk Cottage has me ready for spring! Did you know it's simple to grow your own violets from one stem?

The Blackberry Vine appealed to my inner-Hippie with these groovy cake pops.

Taradara snazzed up a set of old chairs. I've been meaning to recover our dining room chairs for several years and this post has almost motivated me to actually do it.

Purple Chocolat Home (don't you just love the name?) created designer look-alike photo frames on a slim budget.

Our Humble A{Bowe}d shared her paint pen discovery and created unique mugs.

My Delicious Ambiguity taught how to make your own reusable Valentine's Day countdown calendar.

Type A shared some creative decor.

Congratulations to all those nominated! Now the fun really begins - voting! Be sure to support your favorite blog post with the poll at the top of this page. Nominees, here is a button to help your Best in Show campaign:

The winner of the Best in Show award will be announced toward the end of this week. Good luck everyone and have fun!

Not "Baaad" Sundays Blog Hop

Welcome back to another fabulous Not "Baaad" Sundays Linky Party! I'll be posting the nominees for the Best in Show award a little later on. Right now, I'm on my way to host a tea party!

I found this adorable jeweled sticker in the clearance bin at Michaels. Perfect for the envelope!

I'm not thrilled with that icky greenish paper under the crown, but these things are going to happen when you're a procrastinator. I stuck everything together and ran off to work a minute late! And, yes, my original tea party had to be rescheduled. I like today better anyway - we're going to toast Annabel Violet Spohr's first birthday! Happy birthday, Annie!

Now, in case you've forgotten, (can't blame you - it's been a looooong week!) there are 2 things that make my blog hop special:

Today's Linky will be back, making it easy to see what you posted last time (and giving you a 2nd chance to visit any great posts you may have missed!)

Doesn't this sound like fun? Of course, I do ask that you link directly to your post and include a photo from that post, not just your blog logo. And if you could post my Not "Baaad" Sundays button or at least a link with your post, I'll love you forever!

Oooh, I almost forgot the most important thing of all. DON'T BE A PARTY POOPER! Please get out there and mingle with at least 2 other linked bloggers! Yes, I will know if you skip this and, yes, I will most certainly hold a grudge against you!

Wondering Who Won? Sure You Are!

Thank you so much to everyone who voted in this week's Best in Show competition. It was a very close race, but on the last day one talented blogger ran away with the election. You might recognize some of her work:

Who wouldn't want to receive one of these darling cherry cards?

Love the blue nail polish!

Congratulations, Fuzzy Slippers Designs! I spent longer than I'd planned browsing through all your creative posts. There are so many fun card designs! Here is your award:

Thank you to all the bloggers who participated in the Not "Baaad" Sundays blog hop last weekend. The linky will be back up tomorrow, along with another chance to win the Best in Show award. I hope to see you soon!

Hush Puppies - Right Way and Wrong Way

I found the recipe for these hush puppies here.

I had half a can of creamed corn to use up, so I decided to make hush puppies.

Just look at all that oil!

While waiting for the first batch to finish cooking, I decided to take a photo of my recently organized pantry. By next week, when it's no longer neat and tidy, I'm really going to appreciate this photo!

Why do we have so many cans of tomato soup??

After frying up 3 batches, here is all the oil that was left:

That's right - absolutely none whatsoever!

But that can't be right. Sexy Nerd and I didn't eat all that oil, did we? How much was in the pan to begin with?

Come to think of it, I'd rather not know how much oil we started with.

Feeling a little guilty and grossed out from frying up so many hush puppy sponges, I decided to experiment with cooking the rest of the batter like a giant, corny pancake.

*This is not recommended if you want your hush puppies to taste like hush puppies!

A near-perfect flip! Woo hoo!!!

To keep all our tasty hush puppies warm and crispy, my final step was to heat them in the toaster oven on the broiler setting for about 5 minutes.

While broiling, I moved a safe distance away from the toaster oven. According to online reviews for this model, it's a fantastic toaster oven/convection oven, except for one little problem.

There are several incidents documented online of the glass exploding when using the broiler. Darn you, Krups.

Who else gets lazy when they near the end of a cooking project? And who else likes to tease hungry little doggies with false promises of food? I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Ta da! A plate of greasy, crispy hush puppy goodness for me and my Sexy Nerd (sorry, Pica and Biscuit!) Notice that the always clever Kitchen Pig has put all the lazy, pancakey non-hush puppies underneath the properly made ones. By the time you finish eating the fried hush puppies, you don't even notice/care that the ones at the bottom aren't as good.

Sexy Nerd and I agreed that this recipe is definitely a keeper. If only they weren't soooooooooooo full of oil! To be fair, this plate of hush puppies ended up being our entire dinner. And that makes it healthy, right?

Sexy Nerd constantly harasses me about my thrifty ways. His case against me may have improved last night, when he was cutting a zucchini and this happened:

He claims that he could have lost a finger and perhaps even have been killed. Maybe it was just an extra-tough zucchini?

On a side note, has anyone seen any bargains on knives lately? I think we have plenty - an entire drawer full of ones just like this! - but I suspect Sexy Nerd is going to throw them out.

Tucson: Reid Park Zoo and Winterhaven Festival of Lights

Sexy Nerd and I visited my family in Tucson for Christmas (remember the airport frisking I received? Good times.) I blogged about Christmas day, but was a bit lazy about the rest. When you think about it, January 17th is really pretty close to December 26th.

The Plan: Everyone meet for breakfast, then head next door to the Reid Park Zoo with my cousin, her husband, and their 2 kids

The Reality: The restaurant that we drove across town to eat at was closed. No biggie. Sexy Nerd and I love McDonalds breakfast burritos (and I love Cinnamelts! Oooh, the ooey gooeyness!)

Change in Plans: Follow my aunt and uncle's car. We'll eat breakfast at their house instead.

Back across town.

Waaaay past the Reid Park Zoo.

Past several McDonalds.

Have you ever noticed how spread out everything in Tucson is? Albuquerque is much more compact.

What to do when going back and forth in an unfamiliar city while a frustrated Sexy Nerd drives and ignores you? Self portraits!

At my aunt and uncle's house, we feasted on bagels, fruit salad, and tamales. Much better than McDonalds breakfast burritos (but, oh, the Cinnamelts that could have been...)

Next stop, the Reid Park Zoo. Back to the other side of town!

We had never been to this zoo before. With our Albuquerque Zoo membership, we received free admission in Tucson. Score!

I'd never seen a peacock in a tree before. How did they get up there??

Nyah nyah!

Up close and personal with a tapir.

Really up close and personal! Whisper into my ear, you darling little tapir.

Sexy Nerd took a photo with the tapir between us. I asked to see the photo afterward. He insisted that it was fine and wouldn't show me.

After our fun day at the zoo, we took my parents out to dinner at OPA! for my dad's 60th birthday. I wish we had that restaurant in Albuquerque! Mmmm, the lamb around my plate (LOL!)(Yeah, you love my dorky humor. There's no sense trying to to deny it.)

Next, we drove through the final night of the Winterhaven Festival of Lights.

My mom hopped out of the car and bought me a big bag of kettle corn. Wasn't that nice?

Back at the hotel, I decided to check my email on the computer in the lobby. Honestly, what kind of a person leaves a public keyboard like this?

I didn't visit any blogs that contained a J, K, or M!

Other than that yuckiness, Day 2 in Tucson was a lot of fun!
